Thanks to Amelia’s Chocolate, we (that’s me and hubby) looked forward to joining Amelia and her team for a special evening that included a sneak preview of her enticing new range of ruby chocolate!
Created by Belgium-based Callebaut, the evening included a nice glass of chilled pink bubbles that matched this lovely new chocolate.
There were also some delicious samples of this exciting new addition to Amelia’s shelves.
We discovered the ruby chocolate is created from the ruby cocoa bean and it does not have any added colours or fruit flavourings. The spectacular chocolate colour is due to a special process of the cocoa bean that turns it into a magnificent shade of rosy red.
During the launch event, the team had put together some fabulous taste combinations, including salted caramel, crystallised orange and refreshing lime. We also asked the chocolatiers how easy (or not ) this new chocolate was to work with and how it differed from the milk, dark and white chocolate already available.
With the tempering process being a bit different to the other types, there were a few misshapen attempts, but it all came good in the end.
As well as being able to try all sorts of different flavours and textures, the best thing about the evening was meeting like-minded people and really appreciating the work that goes on behind the scenes.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without buy some of the chocolate and we even took part in a quiz. Needless to say we didn’t win. But we were winners anyway as we had such a great time. Thank you, Amelia!
